商务英语系简介

商务英语系成立于2002年, 是广西最早招收商务英语本科生的院系,招收非师范类学生。商务英语本科教学目标定位是为社会培养具有扎实的英语基础、基本的商务知识、跨文化交流能力、实践能力的高级商务英语人才。毕业生能在国际环境中用英语从事国际商务工作。目前全日制商务英语本科生达700余人。

商务英语教研室室现有教师18人，其中副教授4人，在读博士3人，15人硕士学位，近50%的教师有海外留学或进修背景。目前承担科研教改项目15项。其中获批国家级哲学社会科学规划项目1项、区人文社科项目5项、教育厅教改项目3项、校级教科研课题6项。获校级优秀教学成果二等奖1项。2011年英语专业获自治区“专业及课程一体化”优势专业，2015年获批自治区级“商务英语虚拟仿真实验中心”。

在专业教学中突出“英语 + 商务”的人才培养特色。目前开设的专业主干课程有：剑桥商务英语（中、高级）、商务英语阅读、商务笔译、商务口译、外贸进出口业务模拟操作、外贸函电与单证、商学导论（英）、市场营销（英）、国际商法（英）、经济学原理（英）、会计学原理（英）、跨文化商务沟通、商务礼仪等。学生有机会泰国、澳大利亚、瑞典、美国、加拿大等国家的国际交流项目。依托商务英语学科发展的前沿理论，专业课程体系不断拓展和完善，符合我国环北部湾经济发展的战略需求以及全球化对外向型人才的需求。

商务英语专业通过“校企合作”的办学模式，与校外实习基地常年聘请企业高管为学生定期开设讲座，参与商务实践竞赛。同时组织学生参与中国-东盟志愿者等国际性实践活动，教研室教师指导国家级与自治区级大学生创新创业项目10余项，凸显应用型人才培养特色。学生在各项校级到国家级的商务实践与英语应用大赛中取得多项奖项。毕业生主要的就业单位为外贸进出口公司、外轮代理公司、外资企业、高等院校等，就业前景广阔，深受用人单位欢迎。                                              

About Department of Business English

The Department of Business English was founded in 2002, which is the earliest department in Guangxi to enroll students majoring in Business English. It offers program for non-normal students aiming to cultivate advanced talents with high proficiency in English skills, good mastery of basic business knowledge, cross-cultural communication ability and practical ability. The graduates are suited for the positions in international business with English as working language. It has a student population of more than 700.

The department is staffed by 18 full time teachers, including 3 associate professors, 3 undergoing PhD studies, 15 with master’s degree. About half of the faculty have international background. Currently, the staff have presided 15 research projects, including 1 National Philosophy and Social Science Research Project, 5 provincial research projects, 3 provincial teaching reform research projects, and 6 university-level research project. We were granted with “Provincial Excellent Discipline”in 2011 and “Provincial Business English Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Centre”in 2015.

The teaching program features “English+Business”.The core courses provided include Cambridge Business English(Vantage and Higher), Business English Reading , Business Translation, Business Interpretation, Simulated Practice for International Trade, Business Correspondence and Documents, Introduction to Business, Marketing, International Business Law, Principles of Economics, Principles of Accounting, Cross-cultural Communication, International Business Etiquette etc. International exchange programs in collaboration with Thailand, Australia, US, Canada and Sweden are also available. The curriculum has been accommodated to the needs of the strategic development of Beibu Gulf Guangxi and foreign-oriented talents.

To cultivate students’ practical ability, the department pays great attention to the cooperation with enterprises and regularly invites famous entrepreneurs to give lectures and join in the Contest of Business Practice. The students have opportunities to take part in the international events such as China-ASEAN exhibition volunteers. The staff have supervised students to host more than 10 national and provincial innovation and practice projects. Recent years have witnessed many students winning prizes in many important academic and practical activities and contests at on and off campus. Graduates enjoy good employment prospect and are well received by the  import and export company, the international shipping company, transnational firms and the schools etc.
